Why You Should Avoid Waxing
Waxing is one of the most common methods of hair removal, as great as it can be for some, it isn't always the best option for sensitive skin (and bank balances). So we have decided to list a few reasons why you should steer away from waxing.
Let’s be real when you think about the day you’re due for a wax, whether it’s an at-home job or in a salon, it can be so inconvenient. You need time to exfoliate your skin, prep the wax (if you’re doing it at home) and wax every unwanted hair on your body, and it doesn't always get them all. How annoying is it when you leave the salon after a fresh wax, putting on your black jeans, then taking them off when you’re home, to find a bit of material stuck on the leftover wax. You also can not shave between sessions, meaning you have to walk around with Gorilla legs, allowing the hair to be long enough to wax.
Have you ever asked yourself, what you’re actually putting on your skin? Not only with your daily moisturisers but also the ingredients in wax? Our skin is our biggest organ, and we really need to look after it in the best possible way we can. Did you know that not all body wax is the same? Just because you’re not leaving the wax on for hours doesn't mean the ingredients in it, aren't doing any harm to your skin. Using the wrong wax, these toxic ingredients can be very harmful on your skin and also the planet. However, if you do love using wax, there are natural waxes that are far better for the environment and your skin, or use an at-home IPL handset like ours!
If you are a waxer, it is something that you need to invest in every 2 weeks, or 4 weeks (if you’re lucky). A waxing session at the salon can cost you up to $150 a session, and if you’re doing it at home, it may cost you half the amount but also probably target half the hair.
If you’re someone who doesn't suffer from ingrown hairs, then consider yourself lucky! Ingrown hairs are painful, ugly and extemply hard to get rid of, and waxing promotes them. No matter how careful we are when we shave or wax, ingrown hairs are inevitable (for those you get them). Did you know IPL laser can help reduce the cause of ingrown hairs, leaving your skin silky smooth.
For anyone who says waxing doesn't hurt, they’re lying. Waxing is f*#king painful! Did you know those who drink a lot of caffeine or alcohol will have more sensitive skin than those who don’t. So if you are planning on waxing your hair soon, try to cut out anything that will make the experience 10 times worse, or opt for a less painful option like IPL!
